Opening reception at the Arts for ACT gallery

Our creative, cooperative friendship began in October of 1994 in Nina Conner's classroom, right down the hall from the ACT gallery, in the Arcade building. We both reveled in the creativity, instruction, independence and intelligence that Nina provided us. We formed a friendship with Nina and each other that is based on our belief in art, humanity and the creative spirit in all of us. Our art has often been discussed and influenced by each other. Terry Lynn and I continue to inspire and motivate each other on our art journeys.
We would love to share our work with you and request your presence at our opening reception, Friday October 5th, 2012 6-10pm. The Act gallery is located at 2265 First St., downtown Ft. Myers. Our show will be shown for the month of October.
Exhibition is free and open to the public during regular business hours, 11-4:30 Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment.

Ruminations

It seems that time passes so quickly and is full of things that we "must" and "should" do that it leaves little time for developing who we are.  What we think, feel, the things we love, just because we love them.  Today I made time for art, friends and a break.  A break from rushing around doing all the things that make me a responsible adult, but not necessarily a better person.  More art to come, just because it is things that I love.

The Catch

Well, it's not much of a fish, but it is better than nothing.  This great white egret has caught a small fish in these untroubled waters.  A small but tasty bite.

Bass Guitar Hands

The bass guitarist keeps the rhythm and so much more.  Jaco Pastorius was the "hands" down best. This painting captures the strength and sensitivity they must have in their hands.  Oil, 5.5 x7.5, figurative, $95.

"Drum Beats"

John's drumming is highly spirited and energetic.  His love of music inspires me to paint.  Loose yet realistic,  lots of creativity for both of us.

John Coltrane, probably the most famous jazz sax player, expresses much with his hands, in music and visually. 8x10, oil, $135

"Jim's Jam"  A passion, not just for the music, but for the love of the creativity is in Jim's painting.

The trumpeter is also the band leader.  Two diverse yet similar roles.  Strong hands belie the significance of both the roles.

John's first musical instrument was a saxophone.  He enjoyed the fun of playing and the soulfulness of the instrument.  He returned recently to play around with it after a long session with guitar and drums. Multiple instruments and different types of sounds intrigue him.

Guitar Hands

Sam plays guitar only because he loves it.  He has always been his own content person.  He is passionate about playing both bass and electric.  In the words of Miles Davis, "I hear what I hear, I play what I play, I am what I am."
